The steam iron is the last development stage of the electric iron for the time being. The first processes based on the external supply of steam with the help of steam generators were patented as early as the end of the 19th century. A central development step was the generation of steam inside the ironing body, the steam then being released to the ironing through holes in the soleplate. In 1909, Johann Georg Müller and Hans Elsässer from Augsburg patented this process, which is still the basis of today's steam iron.

This model from Roengler has a filler neck with closure and pressure relief valve on the front for water filling. The steam generated in the body of the iron was released through five holes in the soleplate. Further features are the covered plug on the back and the wooden handle, which is mounted on a screwed handle support on the hanger body. On the back of the steam iron side, a metal plate indicates the manufacturer and model information "Roengler, VDE, No 569303, 220 volts , 380 watts ".
